Building a law firm that is on the cutting edge of technology

Patrick Palace founded Palace Law in 1995 to help injured plaintiffs secure justice. Since then, Palace Law has helped individual plaintiffs win class action lawsuits and successfully challenged large corporations, major insurance companies, and even state governments. Like most plaintiff PI law firms, Palace Law often competes against much larger legal teams representing large corporations. As a result, technological innovation has become a core pillar of their mission, enabling them to win cases against firms with substantially larger resources.

"Status quo does not work anymore," Palace explains. "You should look for every advantage possible. If you're not innovating, you're losing market share. You owe it to yourself and your clients to keep up."

Their focus on constant innovation has helped Palace Law grow from a solo practice to a team of seven attorneys and 17 paralegals. "We constantly search for new tools, processes, workflows, and ways to run this firm that don't resemble the law firms of yesterday," Palace notes.

In their commitment to staying at the cutting edge of legal technology, Palace and his team developed an interest in AI technology long before Chat GPT and even created a Patbot (an AI Chatbot) to assist people in need as well as clients. While many new companies and tools emerged in this space, Palace Law needed a trustworthy legal AI tool built specifically for lawyers—one from a reliable company that could deliver a high-quality product at an accessible price point.

"We searched for tools from companies that aligned with our needs and could sustain service," says Palace. "Vincent was the only tool we demoed that definitively confirmed its training on a closed dataset, specifically the Fastcase database, which we had long established as reliable."

Vincent's multi-user pricing proved crucial for Palace Law. "When AI legal research tools first launched, they often cost too much for smaller firms. Vincent AI has made these tools financially feasible for us," Palace explains. They successfully implemented Vincent across their entire firm.

Integrating Vincent into legal workflows

The team easily integrated Vincent into their daily workflow and continues to discover new ways to maximize its potential. "This tool offers so many features that it's like driving a new car with numerous buttons. While we discover new capabilities daily, we easily accomplish our core needs," says Palace. His team uses Vincent daily across several workflow processes, including:

Legal Research

Vincent has transformed legal research at Palace Law by enabling quick understanding of statutes and legal issues. Jordan Couch, a partner at Palace Law, recalls a recent impact:

"The night before a trial, I needed to research a unique legal issue, file a motion, and write a new complaint. While I could have completed these tasks without Vincent AI, the tool's efficiency allowed me to spend the evening with my baby daughter instead of working."

Court Preparation

Palace Law has innovatively incorporated Vincent into their court preparation process. "We submit briefs to Vincent AI and ask it to draft a judge's order based on those briefs until we achieve a favorable outcome," explains Palace. This approach helps Palace Law attorneys maximize their courtroom preparation.

Document Analysis

Palace Law uses Vincent to extract initial information from complaints and create early drafts of discovery questions. "The ability to input complaints or motions and begin writing briefs or creating discovery questions provides tremendous value," notes Palace.

Achieving Better Results

Vincent AI has significantly improved Palace Law's work quality and operational speed.

"It helps us remain competitive while keeping clients more satisfied than ever by saving time and delivering better results. When we save time, we can enhance other aspects of our work. We might have more time to investigate cases, uncover additional facts, or develop stronger litigation strategies because we're not spending all our time writing legal briefs word by word," says Palace.

Additionally, within a small firm like Palace Law, Vincent enhances their attorneys' capabilities to increase competitiveness. "When skilled and seasoned lawyers perform basic work, we don't utilize their expertise efficiently. Vincent AI helps our highest-paid and most skilled attorneys focus on complex tasks that match their expertise," explains Palace.

When asked about advice for small firms considering AI tools like Vincent AI, Palace responds,

"When everyone in your company uses it and saves time, that efficiency compounds, enabling you to generate more revenue, scale your business, hire more people, and better serve your community—all from implementing this one tool. Vincent AI keeps you at the cutting edge and, most importantly, helps you win cases!"
